Hello! Thank you for visiting this website. I am Akiko Iguchi, pianist and teacher.

I began my musical journey playing the piano at age 5. When I was 18, I enrolled at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance.

In 2010, I received my Doctor of Musical Arts degree from University of Washington, and began my piano performance career, mainly as a collaborative pianist, in the Seattle area.

My life has been full of many beautiful and exciting experiences from playing the piano and meeting talented musicians from all over the world.

On the other hand, there were times when I could not enjoy myself playing the piano anymore, due to never-ending pressure from competitions, auditions, and exams. I wanted my life to start all over again without the burden of the piano. It was a difficult time.

Thankfully, all that is over now, as I learned to really enjoy playing the piano again. I realized that playing the piano is nothing to be fearful about.

Having been through these experiences, I feel extremely thankful to all my wonderful teachers from the past who taught me the beauty of playing piano.

I believe that my experiences will help me guide my students on the right path towards their piano playing journey.

This is my story. I would like to share my musical journey with you as a pianist and a teacher.
